MultiPress Plugins FAQ
We understand that you are thrilled about the recent addition of the MultiPress Plug-In to your blog network, but in order to make the transition as smooth and beneficial as possible pleasure be sure to consult these frequently asked questions.
We are more than happy to respond to any questions or concerns you may have, but you may find we have already dealt with your question below which can save you time.
And we all know time is money.
Q. Can anyone use MultiPress? I am a newbie to the Internet Marketing, so will I be able to use it? Which skills are needed?
We have done everything we can to make sure that as many people can take advantage of MultiPress as possible. However, previous experience at least with WordPress and uploading files to the program is a definite bonus. There is no need to understand coding or be a computer programmer but the more experience you have with WordPress and website creation the faster you will be able to benefit from the plug-in modules.
Just remember, even if you are a newbie, there are many ways to learn and become far more comfortable with software such as this. And we will always be here to help and guide you as much as we can.
Q. Can I use MultiPress plugins on my existing blog?
For the best possible results we advice that everyone use the MultiPress Core module only when dealing with new installs. This is the module that creates its own subdomains and using it with a new installation neglects any issues that may come about through the use of an existing blog.
Note however, that you can active the Core plugin on an existing blog if you wish. If you notice any unusual instances or problems, all you need to do is de-active the plug-in and everything will return back to normal.
The Content module and traffic module can both easily be used with pre-existing blogs so it is entirely your choice whether you want to use them with new or old blogs.
Q. What do I need to run MultiPress properly?
In order to take advantage of the benefits offered by this powerful plug-in, you will need Linux based hosting where you can install WordPress 2.9+ (or where you already have it installed). You will also need your hosting to support wildcard sub-domains (for the Core plugin to work) and Zend Optimizer (usually installed by default on most hosting servers).
If you are not sure your host meets the requirements, contact your host’s customer support to be sure before investing in MultiPress.
Q. Are there any limitations?
We did not coded any limations in our plugins, except for the trial part. However, be sure to create blogs and rules with caution and responsibility. You don’t want to spam search engines and some hosting companies have limited resources for shared plans, even if they advertise Unlimited “everything”. So, too many blogs or rules can hurt more than it may help. MultiPress is a VERY powerful tool, and with great power comes great responsibility.
Q. I just uploaded the plugin but I get this error:
Fatal error: Incompatible file format: The encoded file has format major ID 3, whereas the Optimizer expects 2 in /home/cpuser/public_html/wp-content/plugins/multipress-content/init.php on line 0
If this happens to you when installing MultiPress, it likely means that the version of Zend Optimizer is probably out-dated on your sever. Ask your host support to update Zend Optimizer to latest version available for their server OS (should be at least version 3.3.3)
Q. I just uploaded the plugin but I get this error:
Fatal error: Unable to read 3818 bytes in /home/cpname/public_html/wp-content/plugins/multipress-core/init.php on line 0
This means you didn’t upload the plug-in files in “binary” format. In order to fix this issue, go into your ftp software, change your upload format to Binary (not ASCII or Auto) and re-upload your files.
Q. When i activate the plugin i get this error: ”The plugin does not have a valid header.”
More then likely some files are corrupted or not the ones we provide. Beside the actual plugins we also provide 2 modified wordpress core files: general-template.php and taxonomy.php (they exist in /wp-includes/ directory)
Please go to http://multipressplugin.com/download and download a full install zip (according to your wordpress version). Then upload all files inside that zip to your wordpres, onverwriting everything, including wordpress core files.
Or you can download the zip that only contains the 3 plug-ins and the modified files you will need to replace in your active WordPress installation. This option is suitable for both WordPress 2.9 and 3.0, please consult readme.txt inside the zip for instructions.
Q. I see this error at the bottom of posts. Why?
Fatal error: Call to a member function changeGeneralLink() on a non-object in /home/cpuser/public_html/domain/wp-content/plugins/multipress-core/core/filters.php on line 118
Same answer as above.
Q. Why is Multipress Core not working? I activated the plugin but the subdomains do not work.
If you encounter this issue then it is more than likely you do not have wildcards subdomains enabled. You can try enabling it yourself or ask your host support to take care of the issue for you. You can read more about wildcards here: http://multipressplugin.com/wildcards.pdf
Also, make sure you get a license. After you activate any of Multipress modules from the Plugins menu, go to the new created menu Multipress > License and plug in your email to start the trial or utilize your order number to license the installation.
Q. I see some out links added to my posts, why is that?
That can happen if you use the Content plugin without activating it or without an order number. Make sure you activate it either as a trial or with an order number that you received upon purchase.
Q. I still think something is wrong, what can I do?
First of all make sure you have latest plugin files uploaded on your server. You can get all of the most recent files you need from http://multipressplugin.com/download (there are different zips, based on your WordPress version). Make sure you use the correct files that match the version of wordpress that you are using or have installed. Eventually, when WP 2.9 is no longer used(if that ever happens), we will only keep the 3.0 zip.
Current plugin versions are:
MultiPress Autoblogging plugin (Content module) Version 1.1.9
MultiPress Auto Traffic plugin Version 1.1.1
MultiPress Core (the one that creates sub-domains) Version 1.1.4
Q. What if I still have issues?
If after going through all of these frequently answered questions, and reading through the MultiPress user manual, you have not found the answer you are looking for feel free to then email support@twoenough.com.
Be as specific as you can in terms of the problem or error you are dealing with as possible. Just letting us know that your version of MP “is not working” won’t help us get an idea of what is wrong. If possible, send your Wordpress URL, admin logins and maybe your FTP/cPanel access and let us know what hosting package and company you are working with (that can make a big difference). Rest assured, we take customer support and privacy very seriously, your data will be safe with us and will be removed from our Inbox or anywhere else after we solve your issue.
